SA: East Timor group calls for bigger UN security force

East Timor activists in Australia have welcomed moves by the United Nations to increase its
security force on the island.

But they say the force of 700 people won't be enough to keep the peace in the lead-up to
the vote on independence at the end of the month.

The Campaign for an Independent East Timor says the UN should send more troops to East
Timor and also organise a worldwide ban on military co-operation with Indonesia.
