NSW: Firefighters focus on backburning and property protection
Record numbers of firefighters are taking advantage of easing weather conditions totry and bring the bushfires raging across NSW under control.
The Rural Fire Service says more than 60 fires continue to burn across the state anda total of 4,000 fire personnel are out tackling the blazes.
Fires in the Blue Mountains around Blackheath and Wentworth Falls, as well as blazesnorth of Sydney in Berowra Waters and Brooklyn are causing the most concern.
An RFS spokeswoman says no properties are currently under direct threat, but firefightersare concentrating on property protection in these areas.
Fires also continue to cause trouble around Cessnock, Gosford, Tamworth, the Eurobodallaarea and Dungog.
